Ed Boon’s Mortal Kombat 12 roster reveal is pure genius
The future of Mortal Kombat appears to be punching toward us at incredible speed, and though series creator Ed Boon has always loved teasing fans by getting them involved in the development of the games, it looks like he’s getting faster and more specific.
Players are expecting that the full Mortal Kombat 12 reveal is coming very soon, and they might be onto something. Boon's teases are growing more intentional and closer together, as fans think he's leaked the entire Mortal Kombat 12 roster with a whole lot of finesse.
Fans think Ed Boon has leaked the MK12 roster
Ed Boon recently jumped into a Twitter Space to chat with fans and catch up with the communities around NetherRealm's games. It was all pretty standard stuff, however, some have picked up a few interesting details about the playlist that Boon had playing in the background.
As collated by Twitter user kevinmcolon, a long list of songs was heard at the end of the Twitter Space. It's an impressive (if a little unusual) list that includes tracks by Prince, The Beatles, and Snoop Dogg.
They're all classic tracks, but after a recent teaser trailer seemingly hinted at a Mortal Kombat reboot for MK12, brawlers reckon this means something beyond Boon simply wanting to spin some tunes.
MK fans identify Mortal Kombat 12's characters
Kevinmcolon has grouped each of the tracks that played along with some static sounds and retro Mortal Kombat sound bites, comparing each to characters from the game's universe. The likes of Scorpion and Mileena are inevitable, but more deep-cut characters appear in the theory.
Is "Boogie Fever" really linked to Smoke, does "Let it Be" cue D'vorah, and is Queen too much of a leap for Sindel. Fans reckon that these characters have been "confirmed" by the playlist, and to be fair, it's a compelling argument that we'll be keeping an eye on.
Only time will tell if these characters appear in Mortal Kombat 12, but if they do, this is masterful teasing from Boon and his team at NetherRealm. It's nice to know that goofy internet trolls have found their way to the top of the gaming industry - there's hope for us, after all.
