As BioWare general manager Gary McKay announced earlier this week that BioWare would be cutting approximately 50 roles to help streamline the company, unnamed sources have reportedly revealed that the next Dragon Age game keeps being pushed back.

According to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, who has reportedly discussed what is happening behind the scenes at EA with unnamed sources, the game has been delayed several times and will not be here until 2024 at the earliest.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf seemingly keeps being delayed

According to Grubb's sources, the game was initially aiming for a September 2023 release, however has since been pushed back. The release window was then moved to March 2024, though it seems that this has been delayed again.

it is alleged that the game will be released in Summer 2024 at the earliest, however Grubb thinks that it is "very likely" it could be pushed back even further, potentially to 2025.

In March, EA announced that BioWare’s Mass Effect team had been brought in to help with the development of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Grubb has speculated the recent layoffs may mean a longer wait for the next instalment in the Mass Effect franchise if more members of staff are moved to the Dragon Age team.

BioWare recently announced it would be cutting approximately 50 roles

On 23 August, in a blog post, McKay explained that BioWare would be downsizing to "shift towards a more agile and more focused studio."

He wrote: "To achieve this, we find ourselves in a position where change is not only necessary, but unavoidable. As difficult as this is to say, rethinking our approach to development inevitably means reorganizing our team to match the studio’s changing needs.

"As part of this transition, we are eliminating approximately 50 roles at BioWare. That is deeply painful and humbling to write. We are doing everything we can to ensure the process is handled with empathy, respect, and clear communication. With that last point in mind, I want to take a moment to explain how we got here, what we’re doing to support our colleagues, and what this means for BioWare’s current and future games."

Despite the cut backs, McKay reassured fans that the teams dedication to Dreadwolf hasn't wavered.

In the post he said: "Our commitment remains steadfast, and we all are working to make this game worthy of the Dragon Age name. We are confident that we’ll have the time needed to ensure Dreadwolf reaches its full potential."

So overall it seems we may have a while to wait before getting hands on with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
