When you're in the middle of some intense and nail-biting combat on your PS5, you may not be paying too much attention to your DualSense controller, other than doing some serious button-mashing. Apparently, there's a lot more to the shell of the controller than meets the eye.

There are a plethora of video games that feature a teeny Easter egg for fans to suss out during their playthrough. Sometimes, it can be to tease an unsolved mystery, such as the seemingly random rubber ducks spread throughout Vanguard. Or, a faithful homage to previous games, as with the Elder Scrolls Easter egg in the Starfield trailer.

One thing that's for sure is that these little extras can sometimes take years to discover - and it can often be like finding a needle in a haystack. As is the case with the PS5 DualSense controller, which features a minuscule Easter egg hiding away in plain sight.

What Is The DualSense Controller Easter Egg?

The Easter egg certainly isn't easy to see, and you'll most likely need a magnifying glass to spot it. However, some very kind souls have made the task a little easier by sharing intensely zoomed-in photographs of the PS5 DualSense controller.

The pictures showed that the shell of the controller is completely covered in triangle, square, circle, and cross symbols which are near-invisible to the naked eye. Reportedly, there are 40,000 tiny PlayStation symbols at your fingertips thanks to the DualSense's unique design, paying homage to the company's heritage.

Some fans were disappointed following the retirement of the firm favourite DualShock controller. Thankfully, the DualSense's intricate pattern creates a distinctive texture are designed to help the player's grip when using the gamepad. The console itself is also swimming in mini symbols to match with its counterpart.

It's not entirely clear whether there is some kind of secret message behind the controller's design. However, it seems as this just paying homage to some of PlayStation's iconic gamepads that still have a grip on the hearts of many devoted PlayStation fans.

The texture may help towards helping the player's grip, but it also certifies PlayStation's legacy and the little shapes which have become instantly recognisable with the brand.

If you're still waiting on getting your hands on a PS5 console due to shortages, don't worry you're certainly not the only one. When you do, make sure to pull out a magnifying glass and have a glance over the iconic triangle, square, circle, and cross that have helped us through many a button-mashing battle.
