Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to PS5 very soon
When it comes to indie titles, PC players definitely have the best of it. Consoles might be the best for the casual gamer, but in many cases, if you want to get really stuck in, you're going to need to build a brutal rig that'll set you back thousands.
It's savage, so it's a real treat when publishers pick up titles that allow them to finally reach a larger audience on Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation hardware. And it seems that same jump is coming for Darkest Dungeon 2.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to PlayStation very soon
After spending plenty of time getting settled in and reaching great success on Steam, the gothic road trip roguelike of Darkest Dungeon 2 is finally getting the console port it's been waiting for.
The game is heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, coming in a package deal with its Binding Blade DLC. This makes up the Oblivion bundle that can be purchased as a cross-buy package for both consoles. The news comes shortly after it was revealed that a new Kingdoms mode is coming in 2024.
"We have been very eager to bring Darkest Dungeon II to PlayStation players," says Red Hook Studios’ Design Director Tyler Sigman in a statement.
"The game feels great with DualSense Controller–we’ve been able to add touches like feeling the heartbeat of a hero on death’s door, or the rumble of the stagecoach’s wheels as it hits a trap. Darkest Dungeon I was fortunate to find a strong community on PlayStation and we hope the same proves true with the sequel."
The Oblivion edition of the game can be purchased on Steam right now, but it'll be going live for PlayStation fans on July 15, 2024. Players can pre-order the game starting today (April 18).
It's great to see Darkest Dungeon 2 travel to pastures new, and though the game's reviews have recently been pulled down to a "mixed" status, there are still more than enough fans ready to welcome the title to the platform. Now that Dead Cells has shut up shop, we'll take roguelikes anywhere we can find them.
