CDL Fan Booted Out Of Stadium For 'Inappropriate' Banner

CDL Fan Booted Out Of Stadium For 'Inappropriate' Banner
Call of Duty League

A member of the Call of Duty World Championships crowd was ejected from the arena on the opening day. If you want to know why, it's due to having an inappropriate banner which appeared on the official broadcast.

Banners and flags are quickly becoming quite the addition to esports crowds - becoming a way of cheering teams on and getting two seconds of fame when the cameras find them.

However, one OpTic Texas fan might have taken it a step too far with their latest drawings and support, taking advantage of a questionable call from Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro to name his Twitch subscribers as "C*m Shotz".

CDL Fan Kicked Out Of World Championships For Inappropriate Banner

The OpTic fan labelled as "OGTexasBurner" on Twitter revealed that he had been kicked out of the World Championships after his "C*m Shotz" banner appeared on the official broadcast, which also sparked quite a shocked reaction from the caster Miles Ross.

The banner appeared on the live stream with the original side saying "I'm hotzzy for Shotzzy" until it was flipped around to reveal the overly-lewd message. They also sat next to other signs such "Scumpii has that dumpy" which applauds Seth "Scump" Abner's backside. However, social media instantly erupted into chaos as the banner holder revealed he was ejected from the stadium with the security guard claiming he was not allowed back for the entire weekend.

Twitter inappropriate sign

"Kicked out of champs because of the sign," the user said on Twitter. "Apparently I'm perma-banned for the whole event," they added, before detailing that the security guard had taken his ID to prevent him from returning for the next three days.

CDL Executive Confirms Banned Fan Can Come Back, Without His Banner

Despite not being allowed back in on the night, missing OpTic Texas' scintillating 3-2 victory over Toronto Ultra and Atlanta FaZe's 3-2 Reverse Sweep over New York Subliners, MLG Founder Adam Apicella has confirmed that the banned fan can come back for the remaining days, given that the banner is left behind.

"All good and false alarm. If he has issues he can come to me," Apicella said online, confirming that the security guard has been overruled and that the fan can come back to attend the final three days.

"I do understand my mistake and what I did was inappropriate but again it wasn't something that I did with intentions to harm or do something bad. Just wanted to make my fellow COD fans laugh," the fan confessed on Twitter.

As an OpTic Gaming fanatic, he will now be able to sit with the Green Wall once again and cheer OpTic on through at least two more games, specifically their upcoming game against LA Thieves where they'll be looking to get revenge for the "overrated" trash talk comment.
