Dr. Edward Richtofen is quite simply a Call of Duty legend. The mad scientist has played for both sides of the undead war, playing for the living and the reanimated, yet we still love him no matter his side.

Having appeared in no less than ten Call of Duty games (six from the main series), the German Zombie killer has featured in all but one Zombies map ever made in the series, pushing us through both the Aether and Dark Aether stories.

Over the years, Richtofen has sported a number of looks too, ranging from the pyjama-wearing kid in the Der Eisendrach flashback to a half-dead jump scare in Shadows of Evil.

But his latest look is not going down well.

Richtofen was added to CoD Mobile in Season 9 as a playable character, donning his pretty standard Primis form, but has now been gifted a "Legendary" Operator outfit.

Legendary Richtofen — Dark Designs comes as part of the CoD Mobile 4th Anniversary celebration and will use a new Legendary Nail Gun blueprint.

But it doesn't really look like our Eddie at all.

Instead of his war-torn face and malding hair - fighting countless zombie outbreaks does this to a man - Richtofen is now looking like something from Star Trek with a bright silver jacket to match his newly imported barnet. I bet there are some Turkey teeth under that face mask too.

Call of Duty fans blast the new Richtofen look

Many fans were caught in utter disbelief at the new image, as Richtofen sports silver hair and a football-dad bod.

"There’s no way that’s Richtofen," said one fan, with others joining in by adding, "There is no way t**s shit is real. Edit: this s**t is actually real what the f**k," and "I refuse to believe that's my goat."

Maybe it's just the thought of Richtofen kicking back and enjoying a cosmo cocktail in the cosmos that is unnerving, but the silver fox look has really rattled old-school Call of Duty fans.

"The developers were like "Let's just make Mortal Kombat Smoke and give him a gun and call it a day'," another fan added.

Richtofen could be returning to the series in Modern Warfare, as hints have already been cast, or at least in the 2024 Black Ops game where his looks will likely be back to normal, if not a little bit eviler than we're used to.
