The pursuit of wacky Call of Duty skin designs has continued in Season 3, with perhaps the most bizarre lineup of cosmetics to date. While the return of Snoop Dogg wasn't much of a surprise, a stoned Sloth, an Emperor and a humanoid dinosaur were a little more unexpected...to say the least.

However, of all the store bundles released with the major patch, an Operator skin called "The Mind" has garnered the most attention. It features a brain floating in a jar of liquid, and while some of the community love it, others argue it's just another example of the "Fortnitezation" of CoD.

Members of the ModernWarfareIII and CallofDuty subreddits are divided over whether the "ridiculous" brain skin is "cool" or completely "stupid."

On one side, some competitors love Sledgehammer's pivot towards strange and wacky skins that instantly catch the eye. From their perspective, these designs are just "funny" and shouldn't be taken too seriously by the Mil-Sim crowd.

"These types of ones are kinda my favourite, Just because of how ridiculous it is," said one user, with another claiming, "At least this one is cool and funny, some of them are just pure garbage and hideous, this is dope."

It's likely the devs know exactly what they're doing, as drumming up attention with these standout designs ultimately results in more sales when the store drops.

Other MW3 fans believe it's part of the "fortnitezation" of CoD

Not everyone supports the CoD's decision to pivot down a wacky path when it comes to cosmetics, especially veterans who have been playing for over a decade. In their opinion, it's proof Activision is continuing the "fortnitezation" of CoD and it's sad the community is letting it happen.

"I'm getting killed by a bunny with a gun that turns me into some sort of anime s**t... I quickly exited the match, closed the game and just kind of stared at the CoD logo for a minute wondering what the f**k happened to this franchise?" said one user.

Another argued, "Listen it's a cool skin I give them that but what the fuck I'm playing COD not some dumbass mobile game." No matter what, it comes down to sales and at the end of the day, players are buying these skins.

So, while the Call of Duty Store money continues to roll in, we're sure the wacky collabs and strange cosmetics will keep arriving with every patch.
