Though Blizzard has plenty on its plate right now (especially as it's just officially joined the Xbox family), players still wish it would turn its attention elsewhere.

Of course, calls for a new Starcraft following the huge acquisition they've found themselves at the heart of have been consistent. There are fans all over who hope Blizzard will stop milking Overwatch and return to the classics. Now, it looks like Blizzard could be doing just that.

Heroes of the Storm gets a new update

Even though Blizzard has claimed to have ceased development on Heroes of the Storm, it clearly hasn't stopped the team from actually developing it.

It has been revealed in a brand-new tweet from Adam Fletcher, the Global Community Development Director for Diablo at Blizzard, that there's a new update hitting Heroes of the Storm. Fletcher revealed the news by posting fresh patch notes.

While it would be pretty shocking that Heroes of the Storm would suddenly rear its head, especially as players thought it was completely finished. Following the ABK deal, it's sparked hopes that there's a new storm brewing.

The full patch notes have actually changed a good deal, with some big UI changes for D.Va and Misha, as well as ability changes. There are some big balancing alterations that have the potential to uproot the game's meta entirely. For the active HotS player base, it could be a big win after this period of silence.

It's unexpected that such a huge update has arrived, and quite fairly, it has sparked speculation that the Heroes of the Storm could be gearing up for a big comeback. We wouldn't be surprised at this stage as Blizzard's promise to cease development has clearly expired.

The cross-franchise MOBA released in 2015, with many feeling it was cut short when it went into maintenance mode in 2023. We don't know what the future holds for Heroes of the Storm, but we'll be right there for each new tweak.
