With the Lands Between being so massive, you'd expect there would be a lot of bosses in Elden Ring. Away from the mandatory 12 you need to best to complete the story, there's a grand total of 165 bosses lurking out there in this rotten realm. But which is the best Elden Ring boss?

We've all got our favourites, and while a lot of love goes to Morgott and his glowing hammer or Godfrey and his roaring lion, it's all a matter of choice. Still, we bow down and listen to our very own Elden Lord, as Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has passed his own judgement on who is the best Elden Ring boss.

Who Is The Best Elden Ring Boss? (According To Miyazaki)

Speaking to Xbox Wire (via IGN), Miyazaki opened up on the many enemies cluttering up the Lands Between and revealed his favourite boss. "It's tough to decide," said Miyazaki, "but I'd have to say Radahn. As an individual character he's really alluring, and I really like the Radahn Festival situation. There’s a literal sense of festivity and exuberance, but also a unique tinge of sadness and loneliness."

Not stopping at just one, he threw some love toward Godrick the Grafted and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy - but was unable to pick between the pair. Finally, he went on to explain the Zelda-esque spider hand you'll find leaping from the shadows at Caria Manor. "Spider Hand is one of my favourite designs," continued Miyazaki, "It's something you don’t want to even look at because it’s so horrible. I wonder if the way to overcome your issue is to face it head-on and beat it."

When asked what open-world games have influenced him, Miyazaki admitted he's played many that can be considered "masterpieces" and have the nod to The Elder Scrolls and The Witcher 3. He also said it's important to mention The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as a recent addition.

Now that Miyazaki has covered the best Elden Ring boss, it's over to another hot topic - who is the hardest Elden Ring boss? It's interesting that Miyazaki's choice for the best Elden Ring boss is typically considered the hardest. Since the game's release in February, we've seen various buffs and nerfs to try and balance Elden Ring, with Radahn getting a nerf for being "too hard".

Even Miyazaki himself has apologised for making Elden Ring too difficult, but what did you really expect from what FromSoftware pitched as the biggest and best Souls-like? It's a close call on whether Radahn or Malenia are the most gruelling foes out there, and given Malenia's status as the poster girl for the entire game, we're surprised Miyazaki left her out in the cold in his rankings. With Elden Ring's world confirmed to expand, we can't wait to see what other madmen and monsters Miyazaki comes up with.
