As anyone who has played Apex Legends will know, once you've lost your entire health bar and shields, you become downed.
In this state, you can crawl around slowly while you wait for your teammates to revive you, and most importantly, you can use your Knockdown Shield to protect yourself. Everyone starts with a white Knockdown, but you can increase the capabilities of your barrier by finding blue, purple, and gold ones as loot.
As the last line of defence in a competitor's arsenal, it's safe to say they're pretty important. Well, thanks to a bug, they're not working correctly and seem to be blocking zero damage.
Apex Legends bug is breaking Knockdown Shields
Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user I_got_coins showcased a serious problem with Knockdown Shields that makes them ineffective against gunfire.
While playing as Crypto on Olympus, they were downed by long-range gunfire out of the blue. Luckily, they had a purple Knockdown Shield, which should have kept them protected while their allies attempted to help.
Unfortunately, a bug caused the Knockdown Shield to break and block zero incoming damage from the opponents in the distance. As a result, I_got_coins was immediately eliminated from the match, presumably frustrated and slightly confused about what just happened.
Apex fans claim glitch has been a problem for the "last year"
A lot of fans in the thread assumed that this issue had only just popped up in Season 20, but according to some players, this isn't true.
It's reportedly been a problem for the "last year," with Knockdown Shields not deploying properly and being significantly smaller than intended - opening up the downed competitor to gunfire.
"Yep it's been a bug for a while, if you've ever noticed someone's knock looking more like a neck cone, that's what's happening," said one user, with another claiming, "Recently? I've been feeling like this since last year."
If this is a long-standing glitch, then Respawn needs to jump on it as soon as possible. However, given the ongoing ALGS anti-cheat situation, it's safe to say the devs have got their hands full.
