While some game companies have made great strides over the past few years when it comes to accessibility, some players' ingenuity allows them to make do with what they have. Enter a VALORANT player called Tanmay, who showcased his customised setup that allows him to play the multiplayer shooter despite being born without a left hand.

How Does Tanmay Play VALORANT?

Last year, Tanmay shared his story to the official VALORANT subreddit, receiving over 15,000 upvotes and hundreds of awards. The post was titled "Hi! I'm a congenital amputee and this is how I play Valorant on PC with one arm and a stump!" In it, Tanmay posted a video that details exactly how he can play VALORANT despite his disability.

Tanmay still uses a mouse and keyboard in his setup, claiming to have tried the Xbox Adaptive Controller, but says he's too used to his own personalised setup to change drastically now. To make it work, he's rebound many of the keys and extra mouse buttons afforded to him by the Logitech G402.

For example, Tanmay still uses the same movement keys in-game, but rebound the 'walk' key to Q, allowing him to move easier, also adding that he has enough muscle memory to consistently hit the keys at this point.

He's done much of the same process for his mouse too, rebinding the extra side buttons so that they equip character abilities, which is defaulted to the keyboard on VALORANT. These adaptive changes allow him to play the game normally, showing off gameplay that looks no different to any other player. To top it off, he achieved Silver One in ranked.

What Else Has Tanmay Said About His Process For Playing?

Underneath the original post, he also posted a comment to elaborate a little on how it feels to play and what his process is for figuring out controls. Stating, "Using my stump on the keyboard always feels like a ball rolling on different keys close to each other.

"Whenever I start playing a new game, I always try to configure most of the keys in a small radius that includes Q-W-E-R-A-S-D-F-Z-X-1-2-3-Shift and Tab. Over the years my nub has developed excellent muscle memory to hit these exact keys without looking.

"Moreover, I have the Logitech G402 mouse that has 5 extra buttons on the side that can be configured to whichever keys you want. It gives me incredible control over complex games like Fortnite, Valorant, etc. and I can call myself a semi-pro player!"

Tanmay also shared a link for a fundraiser to get him a prosthetic arm, which we can report hit its goal. He followed up with an update on the new prosthetic, saying, I use it mainly when I head out, and it has proven to be a great personality booster for me. It has helped with my confidence, and with my exercise and building my physique."

Concluding with "I am eternally grateful for your generous donations that made this possible. Thank you all once again!" We do love a story with a happy ending!
