Alter’s awesome kit is terrible news for a Apex Legends main character
Alter has made her grand entrance to the Outlands in fine fashion, soaring to the top of the Apex Legends pick rate charts as players scramble to get hold of this entertaining new legend.
The new void breacher has a passion for skipping dimensions and comes with a cool female-Octane look which is already proving popular.
But as she finds her feet in the meta, Alter's arrival could be spelling a stint on the sidelines for one beloved Apex Legend character, whose journey is going from bad to worse.
Alter could spell the end for Ash in Apex Legends metas
Click to enlargeStraight off the bat, Alter looked to be a rival of sorts to Wraith as the ultimate void walker, but it's actually another character who can bend space and time to their will who looks to be getting the shaft: Ash.
Alter's tactical ability is becoming quite a hit, allowing players to create portals at will to either create an escape route or as a ploy to capture. But this sounds all too familiar if you're an Ash main, as the ability is pretty much Ash's Ultimate.
There's no guessing for which you'd prefer either, as Alter's Tactical is primed and ready every 30 seconds, whereas Ash's Ult takes three times as long to charge up.
There are a few differences, such as the length of the void that can be cast, but for simple usage, Alter looks to have Ash's number on top of her own Ult.
Other players have already noticed that her passive has shades of Loba's Ult too, making her a medley of madness.
Alter lands in Apex Legends as a huge hit
Straight off the bat, Alter has been a huge success, with players instantly using the character's void to create new kidnap opportunities or as a way to guarantee loot off the launch, throwing enemies into the sky before they know what has hit them.
Whether Alter has the legs to compete in Ranked and at elite levels is yet to be known, but she looks to be one of the most entertaining legends yet, perfect for solos too.
Ash hasn't plummeted in pick rates so far and has actually increased over the last 24 hours by 10%, but she was near the bottom of the pile to begin with, and could soon be back holding the wooden spoon.
