GoldenEye 007, for a game lorded as one of the greatest ever made, has been a bit quiet.

Though it has had its fair share of remakes (both successful and unsuccessful, both official and unofficial), the game might get tighter and flashier, but much of the game's design around the N64's limitations is what makes it so special.

Super-fans and casual ones alike have been wondering, though - why isn't it on Switch yet? Of course, Nintendo has a poor track record when it comes to optimising and reinstating classics on its hardware, but the Nintendo Switch now has its Online Expansion Pack for retro games, so the absence of GoldenEye 007 has certainly been felt.

But now, that absence will be felt no longer.

GoldenEye 007 Is Finally Coming To Nintendo Switch

It has finally been revealed that GoldenEye 007 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch's Nintendo Switch Online offerings. Phew.

The game has long been expected to join the service, and it has finally been announced to be on its way, with some brand new online play to boot.

"Play as Bond. James Bond," says the official Nintendo UK Twitter account in its announcement, revealing the game's debut, new online play and split-screen, and its release date.

The game launches on Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack on January 27 - only two days away as of writing this.

But, that's not all - and it's great news for fans of GoldenEye 007 that aren't on Switch.

GoldenEye 007 Is Coming To Xbox Game Pass

The game will also be launching on Game Pass at the same time, announced by Rare themselves in a new Tweet.

"Mark your calendars," Rare tells its fans on Twitter - "GoldenEye 007 is set to launch on Xbox Game Pass on January 27th!"

It's incredible news for Bond fans and retro gamers alike - and it might even be the start of a bigger press for classic games on Xbox and the Switch. Hell, we'll take it.
