RIG 800 PRO Review: Immersive, versatile and comfortable
The headset market is incredibly saturated, as there are headsets designed for every kind of use you can imagine. Gaming peripherals can be daunting to purchase or even explore purchasing new options, whether you are new to the market or a seasoned veteran in buying new equipment.
However, unboxing and using the RIG 800 PRO from Nacon is one of the easiest and best headsets you can use on the market right now. This headset comes from Nacon, and is one of the best I have used.

GGRecon Verdict
While there are minor flaws that I encountered with the RIG 800 PRO, it isn't enough to stop me from using it or to change my high opinions of the headset. It is an incredibly sturdy piece of hardware that will give you comfortable hours of usage whether it be gaming, voice calls or listening to music - this headset can do it all.
The nitty gritty
Click to enlargeThe sound quality from this headset really blew me away. Even on lower volumes, the quality just doesn’t falter at any moment. The bass and the atmospheric tones that were picked up when playing games and listening to music were fantastic and helped feed into player immersion, especially when playing games like World of Warcraft.
The RIG 800 PRO also has access to Dolby Atmos sound, which makes the quality that much more immersive and makes you feel like you’re really in the moment.
Not only is the sound fantastic, but the headset is comfortable to wear for short and long-term sessions, depending on what you’ll be doing. If you’re in for a long night of gaming, this headset is perfect for that.
Not once did I ever feel like the headset was too heavy on my head, or feel my neck ache from the weight. It’s an incredibly comfortable headset that never felt like it was too hot, or too heavy.
The smallest challenge
Click to enlargeWhen it came to charging the headset, I did have some initial difficulty about how it was done, not realising that it had to be plugged into both the charging port and the USB plugged in for it to charge, especially since the red light was showing on the charging deck to suggest that it was on charge.
The RIG 800 PRO can take a while to charge, but once it's full of juice, it lasts for a good long while. The unit makes sure to tell you whether it is on low, medium or high battery levels too, so you can be prepared.
We experienced a battery lifetime of around 24 hours, which is really helpful if you have a long gaming session or work day ahead of you.
The noise cancelling in the RIG 800 PRO is impressive, to say the least. I was wholeheartedly shocked at how little I could hear from external sources when using these headphones. It made gaming incredibly immersive, as it meant that I wasn't distracted by outside noise.
The version of the headset I reviewed came with a micro USB charger, but as of September, the headset will come with a USB type-C connection and up to 50 hours of battery life - a significant improvement.
Plug and play
Click to enlargeWhile a lot of headsets come with some form of software so that you can customise them, this headset doesn't. You can use Dolby Atmos if you want to customise your sound design to your liking, however, the headset has fantastic sound on its own. I found that I didn't need to use any form of equaliser to change what I was listening to. It wasn't too tinny, quiet or overwhelming at any point.
One of the only things that I dislike about this headset is a pesky voice that sounds when you are changing the microphone sensitivity levels. If you are trying to change the settings while mid-conversation with someone, it will cut off the audio of whoever you are talking with to tell you that you are on a high, medium or low microphone level.
The same happens if you are muting your microphone. A beep that mutes everything will take over for a moment, and you can miss vital information in a conversation or game because of it.
The verdict
Overall, this is one of the best headsets I’ve ever owned.
