Roguelike games are unique in that they can seemingly combine with any genre to produce something new and fun, and even if it's been done before, there's always some new way to tackle things. SpellRogue is one of these games, combining turn-based gameplay and deckbuilding with a world of magic.

If the game sounds like a combination of ideas that intrigues you, check out everything we know about SpellRogue below.

SpellRogue early access release date

SpellRogue is set to enter early access on February 12, 2024.

According to the Steam page, the game will be in early access for at least six months, though it could be much longer depending on how development goes, so we can likely expect a full release in late 2024 or early 2025.

What is SpellRogue?

SpellRogue is a turn-based, deckbuilding roguelike with a focus on magic spells. During combat encounters, you can utilise and manipulate Mana Dice to cast spells, allowing you to reroll, duplicate, split, flip, and even enchant die with special effects.

Before beginning your adventure, you pick a wizard archetype, which controls the type of gameplay mechanics you can utilise. For example, the Lapis wizard can control the "ebb and flow of Mana Dice" redirecting its force in a fight.

During a run, you can pick from 200 unique spells, upgrading them to become more powerful. You'll also be on the hunt for artefacts, which affect gameplay. Taken together, you can combine different spells, upgrades, and artefacts to make each playthrough unique.

There is a story to complete though, meaning you won't be playing aimlessly, as your overall goal is to vanquish the corrupted Voidwalkers across the game's three acts.
