Warriors of Sanctuary won't have to wait for long, because the Diablo 4 Season 2: Season of Blood release date is Tuesday, October 17, 2023. From then, you can set off on a new questline against the Vampire Lord and his newly turned vampire army, turning the hunters into the hunted.

Along with the new vampire powers you can acquire to turn against their originators, the five endgame bosses will include both new and returning foes for an extra degree of challenge.

As stated on Season of Blood's official Blizzard announcement, Diablo 4 Season 2 will also bring an array of community-requested quality-of-life updates. The updates will include more efficient inventory management for Gems, carry-over of essentials like Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades - which will carry over into new seasons - and changes to the functionality of status effects.

What is new in Diablo 4 Season of Blood?

In Season of Blood, the player's character is infected with vampirism, but for some reason does not succumb fully to the change. This means they keep hold of their faculties, but gain access to a host of new vampiric powers. These new powers combine with the existing abilities of the various classes in the game to make players even more devastating in combat.

Some of the powers detailed so far include the ability to dash through enemies and curse them, allowing you to steal their souls when they die and use them for more powerful abilities. Or, you can build up a vampiric bloodlust which sends your character into a rage, tearing apart enemies.

The Blood Harvest is a new public event that takes over large parts of the map like the Helltide, which houses many powerful vampires, deadly monsters, and kidnapped humans. Players can venture into these areas for a greater challenge, useful loot, and gain blood to strengthen their vampiric powers.

Finally, there are five endgame bosses, some returning and some brand new, bringing an endgame challenge to the Season of Blood. The returning bosses will have changes made to update them for the new season, giving experienced players a reason to take them on. An even better reason to fight these monsters is the fact that the bosses will now have specific Unique drops that players can farm to perfect their builds.

Who is the Vampire Companion in Season of Blood?

Shown in the above Season 2 trailer which she also narrates, the new Vampire Hunter companion in Diablo 4 Season of Blood is called Erys, who has been hunting vampires all throughout Sanctuary.

Her backstory is yet to be revealed, but what we do know about Erys is voiced by Eternals and Humans actress, Gemma Chan - who at the Gamescom reveal, also touched on that the role will be her video game debut.
