MW2 Hardcore Mode has finally been revealed by Infinity Ward, meaning players don't have long before they can take part in the ruthless game mode that tests player's skills with no HUD. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's first season is nearing its end, and with the second season's debut, IW is looking to address some of the community's problems.

One of the issues players highlighted was the Tier 1 playlist, which felt like a lesser version of Hardcore, but with the mode finally confirmed to be here soon, you may want an explanation of MW2 Hardcore Mode.

MW2 Hardcore Mode Explained

On January 22, the Infinity Ward Twitter account confirmed that Hardcore Mode is coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. "No HUD? No problem. Hardcore is back!", the tweet began before continuing, "Follow Season 02's multiplayer updates in our studio blog later this week."

This confirms that the game mode will likely be added as part of Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, which is set to debut on February 15. We're also expecting to learn more about the mode, and Season 2 in general, the week of writing this. A COD blog post is confirmed to be coming soon.

For those not in the know, Hardcore Mode is a multiplayer mode that's been appearing in the series since COD 4 Modern Warfare in 2007. It makes for a slightly more realistic experience by removing many of the HUD elements, lowering total HP, and upping the time to kill (TTK).

Currently, the stand-in for this mode is the Tier 1 playlist, and although it has many of the traditional Hardcore Mode features, it has failed to catch on. It's likely that Hardcore Mode will outright replace this playlist once it launches, so if you want a taster before Season 2, why not give it a try?

That's all for our explainer of the MW2 Hardcore Mode, and now you know what it is, along with when it's set to come to the game.

We also cover the Warzone 2 Resurgence map, so you learn more about the release date, leaks, and rumours.
