Having been returned to its former glory during the recent two years, the MW2 M16 classes are back again and are trying to worm their way into the meta. Although its seen downgrades in power since the original Modern Warfare days, the Warzone M16 is still a staple assault rifle.
Turning the M16 into a solid DMR Warzone 2 close-combat option is our preferred way forward this time around. We're also focusing on single-fire, not bursts, so keep this in mind when reading on:

A flash grenade will help put distance between enemies whilst Semtex will work wonders on unsuspecting players on the approach. The double-time perk will also help in getting those extra crucial seconds when in the middle of a close-combat scenario.

In Modern Warfare 2, the M16 comes with a familiar feel to it, although its speed, or lack of it, can be described as quite stodgy. Therefore, you'll be wanting to use the M16 in a more reserved manner, rather than bunny-hopping around like you would with an M4 loadout. Instead, you're going to get results from posting up and pre-aiming, where it can be devastating.
The current crop of attachments might not best reflect how powerful this M16 can be in MW2, yet we can still mould it into quite a formidable AR. You'll be able to select an optic, unlike with other weapons, given that the barrels are all sub-par. Then, a muzzle, grip, and stock that allows for recoil management is required, before you gloss over any loss of speed with an efficient underbarrel selection.

Best MW2 M16 Loadout - Perks and Equipment
MW2 gives players access to the X13 Side Arm blueprint through its exclusive rewards, and the automatic pistol is quite a necessity with the MW2 M16 loadout, given that you can quickly lose count of how many bursts you've unleashed and you might need a get-out-of-jail-free card in close proximity. Your semtex and flash grenades will also be quite crucial, as you'll often do grievous harm with one burst, but might need to finish off a foe who has cowered behind some cover.
While the new perk system continues to scratch heads, you'll likely want to be going for Double Time and Scavenger in your first slot, as you'll need to be quick on your rotations after cleaning out the area you're operating in.
