Swedish popstar, Zara Larsson, has revealed the eye-watering amount that she's made from Roblox since she joined in May - over $1,000,000.

Speaking to BBC, the 23-year-old said that she had made the huge sum on the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) after taking part in the 'Zara Larsson Dance Party' on May 21, 2021. This was effectively an in-game concert to promote the deluxe version of her recent album, Poster Girl.

This coincided with an in-game event, that meant players could get a multitude of free items, such as pajamas, a headband, and a virtual version of her latest album. However, the main influx of cash came from the avatar shop items that required Robux to purchase. If you're not familiar with the term, Robux is Roblox's in-game currency, that you need to buy with real money.

This ranges from a flower crown that would set you back 70 Robux, all the way up to a Zara avatar, that costs 400 Robux. In dollars, this equates to around $4.99.

What Exactly Did Zara Larsson Say About The Money Made From Roblox?

When asked about how she felt upon hearing she'd made over $1m (£740,000) in transactions since May, she said: "My jaw dropped when I heard." However, she was keen to emphasise that she wasn't concentrating on the merchandise when she got involved in the project, saying: "I didn't really think much about it. It wasn't really the motivation for the concert. I just wanted to connect with fans."

She added that in-game concerts and online merch could be the new thing for artists, saying: "Streaming services don't pay the most." Adding, that to make the same amount of money from YouTube or Spotify "would take a long, long time and hundreds and millions of streams".

Which Other Artists Have Done In-Game Concerts?

Many of you will already be familiar with games such as Fortnite hosting events with artists like Ariana Grande and Travis Scott, with Minecraft hosting rock bands such as American Football and Anamanaguchi.

This comes after Roblox hit the headlines recently after the servers went down for three days.
