YNk Raises Concerns Over Handling Of Cheating Coaches By Their Orgs
FaZe Clan coach Janko "YNk" Paunović has raised concerns regarding the handling of the suspensions given out of by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC). According to YNk, several organisations who employ coaches who had been suspended from coaching for varying durations have moved those coaches to analyst positions in order to circumvent the suspension.
In a Twitter thread, YNk elaborated his point, stating that he was "all for giving people second chances but you also need to face the consequences for what you've done. What kind of an example are we setting here?" He specifically addressed the esports organisations Heroic and ENCE, whose respective coaches Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen and Slaava "Twista" Räsänen had been part of the 37 coaches that the ESIC had suspended, with Hunden having to serve an eight-month period and Twista even running up to 15.75 months.
He said: "I've got nothing against them personally, I've talked to Twista multiple times at LANs and I think he's a great guy but they've smeared the whole scene and especially our profession, how are these orgs still allowing them to be a part of the team?"
The distinction between the coaching and the analyst role is considered ambiguous, and it is so far unclear if the spirit of the ruling by the ESIC is upheld by a switch in position.
ESIC had banned 37 coaches for an exploit of a spectator bug, allowing individuals using the observing function in the game to hover in a position and gain unfair advantages for their team. ESIC had gone back through the demos from over five years ago and had examined those exploits, finding that some of the most prominent coaches in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had used it and handed out suspensions in accordance with the severity of the use of the exploit.
