Watch Keanu Reeves As Shadow The Hedgehog In Sonic 3
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is smashing records and officially has the best opening for a video game movie ever. We already know Paramount Pictures is putting on its running shoes for a Knuckles spin-off, a third mainline movie, and promises of a Sonimatic Universe. Not bad for a series SEGA has largely left by the wayside.
Much like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 recruited more talent in the form of Idris Elba as the muscular (we can't call him sexy) Knuckles, fans are looking ahead at who could join the A-list cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Many are already championing John Wick himself for the role of Shadow the Hedgehog, but can you really expect to see Keanu Reeves?

Could Keanu Reeves Play Shadow The Hedgehog?
Posting on Twitter, one fan merged footage of Shadow with Reeves' signature vocals from the John Wick movies. Seeing the gun-toting hedgehog fused with Wick is a brilliant brainwave. Remember, Shadow has a darker edge than most of his other Sonic pals and can usually be found shooting a gun or riding a motorcycle - how very Wick-esque.
Others loved the idea of Reeves expanding his already impressive CV to include Sonic the Hedgehog 3. One wrote, "Remember movie Sonic loves Keanu movies so... This would be stellar," while another added: "We want Keanu to voice Shadow in the movies, please hear me SEGA." Not everyone was on board though, with someone else concluding, "Really good but I raise you this… how about Robert Pattinson?" Another suggested Adam Driver.
Whoever we get to play Shadow in the inevitable Sonic the Hedgehog 3, it's likely the success of its predecessors will be able to lure in a suitable Hollywood megastar. Then again, there have been some complaints that gamers don't just want the Sonic movies to be a cheap cash-in that relies on the star power of a big name. In the meantime, start your fan casting.
Will Shadow Appear In Sonic The Hedgehog 3?
Just like the OG Sonic the Hedgehog teased Knuckles, Sonic 2 has a suitable cliffhanger tease of what's to come. Here, the GUN agents assume the worst that Doctor Robotnik is dead - which is handy if Jim Carrey actually retires from acting. While they can't find Doc, his files lead them to a mysterious container that holds a black and red hedgehog.
First introduced in 2001's Sonic Adventures 2, Sonic has become a fan-favourite of the games and is the antithesis of Sonic. Much like what happened with Knuckles, we expect Shadow to be Team Sonic by the end of the movie, but who knows, maybe he'll be a full-blown bad guy? Given that anti-hero movies are everywhere right now with the likes of Venom and Morbius, it will be great to see a darker side to the usually colourful Sonicverse. Whether Mr. Reeves steps up to the plate... watch this space.
