A persistent bug within Raven Software's Battle Royale smash-hit Call of Duty: Warzone has once again become topical as more and more players are found exploiting it.
Due to a clipping issue, players had reliably been able to get into out-of-map areas, where they couldn't be seen or shot from, while they were able to shoot at opponents outside those structures, gaining a massively unfair advantage.
Specifically, the areas around Train Station and Stadium are still prone to those exploits, being particularly harmful because of how central these positions are to the regular gameplay of Warzone. On Twitter, the developer has now addressed the issue, stating that more and more map locations were going to get fixed based on the player feedback, while also asking affected players to continue reporting those locations to the development team. A patch fixing further locations is expected soon.
How Long Has The Out-Of-Map Exploit Been In Warzone?
The bug had been in the game for a while, with players either accidentally or purposefully clipping through those positions. With the map update to Verdansk 84, even more locations became exploitable, and Raven Software had reacted relatively swiftly to those issues. So far, the developers have deployed two rounds of updates in previous patches addressing other problematic map locations, with many spots being made inaccessible through the exploit in two patches on April 28th and May 7th respectively. According to the company's Trello board card, a "third round of fixes is lined up for an upcoming patch," hopefully fixing most of the highly annoying map locations.
What Exactly Is The Exploit In Warzone?
Due to the nature of the bug, players inside of out-of-area locations can also look and shoot through walls without having to expose themselves behind the structures at all, with the only small recourse being accurately placed grenades or getting into these locations yourself to shoot the opponent. Of course, neither counter-strategy is reliable, adding to the magnitude of the problem while the relatively easy to employ exploit is making the rounds on social media, attracting further cheaters looking for an easy advantage. We hope this gets fixed soon too, as from our experience it has been a noticeable enough problem to the point where we can't even go near Train Station and Stadium as most matches will have a team making unfair use of the location.
