The days of one-shot snipers in Warzone 2 are long gone, but that doesn't mean the long-range rifles have fallen out of the meta.
While certainly not matching the power of the classic Kar98k or Swiss K31, WZ2 pros are growing tired of one particular sniper.
According to them, the Signal 50 is "OP" and acts as a "bailout" for teams who struggle to take gunfights with ARs & SMGs.
For some, it's enough to call for the weapon to be banned in WSOW, but not everyone in the Warzone 2 community agrees.
Warzone 2 pros are tired of "OP" Signal 50 in WSOW
Taking to Twitter on September 1, Warzone 2 pro Ethan "Fifakill" Pink has argued that the "Signal 50 should be banned from WSOW."
He argues the weapon is "a bailout for a lot of teams who struggle to actually fight" and "also makes for VERY boring content for the viewers with teams sitting on rooves for 10-20 minutes."
CoD YouTuber IceManIsaac agreed, claiming they "miss watching high-level gunfights" and the Signal has become a "crutch."
Responding to Isaac, Fifakill came back to finalise his argument by putting forward that "Being able to get kills from 100s of metres away with no risk or punishment is too OP for comp."
Other WZ2 fans claim it's a "playstyle" & shouldn't be banned
Of course, while the majority of Warzone 2 fans and some pros dislike the Signal 50 in comp, not everyone shares the same opinion. Others believe it's a "playstyle" and the pros should adapt instead of just complaining it's too broken.
"It’s a playstyle, may not be your play style or even the crowd's favourite, but it was allowed and people are using it, accept it and practice to counter them," said one player.
Whichever side of the debate you fall into, this was just a "hot take" from Fifakill that sparked a discussion amongst CoD fans, but it'll be interesting to see if the devs agree.
Fewer snipers would mean more intense gunfights up close, but it's hard to know whether shutting down the long-range play style is the correct course of action.
