The Gulag has become one of the most iconic aspects of Call of Duty, with Warzone 2 players being given a second chance in a 2v2 if they're taken down in a match.

These skirmishes are intense as the stakes are extremely high, so both sets of competitors must be on a level playing field, and there are no bugs to compromise the experience.

Despite this, the community has complained for a long time throughout WZ1 in the days of Verdansk, and now, through to WZ2 that footstep audio from spectators makes it impossible to track opponents.

Well, after years of raising the issue with Raven Software, the devs have finally announced that they're looking to fix it. For a lot of players, it's too little, too late.

Proof devs don’t play this game

Taking to the CODWarzone subreddit, user sameolemeek has claimed the recent announcement from Raven Software about fixing spectator footstep audio in the Gulag proves the "devs don't play this game."

This is because, according to users in the thread, "This has been going on since season 1 on Verdansk" so most of the community just assumed it was 'intentional.'

It turns out the issue was a glitch all along that shouldn't have been happening, so it's safe to say fans are frustrated. Accusing Raven Software of being "the absolute most incompetent developers," it's clear the community is angry this managed to slip through the cracks for so long.

According to players, during WZ1 this was a problem that was mentioned frequently, but the glitch was just left untouched for 'years.'

Will fixing this glitch improve the Warzone 2 Gulag?

While CoD players are frustrated it's taken Raven an incredibly long time to address the issue, fixing footstep audio in the Gulag will massively improve the experience.

Without the distraction of the spectator sound, competitors will be able to strictly focus on the movement of their opponents. This will make the Gulag a significantly more fair experience and reward patient players who are willing to track their opponents when they're not in their line of sight.
