It’s been a minute since VALORANT’s most recent agent “Iso” released in October 2023 and naturally, questions about the upcoming release have popped up.

As it turns out, Riot might be in the process of teasing what looks to be a new Controller agent in its unannounced Battlepass according to a leak.

New Battlepass info leaks

Just before the holidays, the new VALORANT Battlepass rewards have leaked, showing the new rewards coming with Episode 8 Act 1. From the Guardrail Hammer to the Fiber Optic Skinline to new sprays and player cards, the Battlepass once again appears to provide solid value for its price, though its skins are once again more on the tame side of design.

Twitter account @ValorLeaks, who revealed the information, also spotted a new weapon called the Outlaw. The weapon sits in the middle between the Marshall and the Operator with an alleged price of 2400 credits, dealing non-lethal damage of 140 HP to the body and only disposing of an opponent with a clean shot to the head, much like its little sibling.

While these leaks already constitute exciting changes and introductions into VALORANT, the real juice worth squeezing could be found among the playercards, potentially teasing a new agent with the codename “SmokeDancer.”

A new Controller?

It’s been over 15 months since VALORANT received its last Controller agent in Harbor and perhaps more crucially, he didn’t appear to leave a dent in either the professional or ranked meta with the old truthfuls mostly stealing the show since his release.

According to ValorLeaks, the new agent is likely to be a Controller, if not least due to its name “SmokeDancer,” which may be a hint at its ability to deploy smoke which is seen as one of the core features of a Controller agent. Granted, the name could also hint towards the agent's ability to manipulate other agent’s smokes and use those to its advantage, but we won’t pester tortured Controller mains with these speculations too much.

The playercard appears to show a butterfly or moth escaping its hazy eggshell, which eerily resembles the shape of a smoke animation typical for VALORANT. (More credence to the smoke breaker theory? Sorry…)

It’s important to note that what we are observing here is merely a leak of a teaser, meaning that the agent in all likelihood won’t be released with Act 1 of Episode 8 like the Battepass, but according to ValorLeaks is to be released in Act 2, scheduled for March.

There’s a lot of room left for additional teasers to reveal more information on the agent till then but you will have to show patience before you will be able to get your hands on it.
