Half-Life really does live by its name. As one of the most ground-breaking series in gaming history, the original alien-squatting FPS birthed Counter-Strike out as a mod and continued on to be Valve's beloved playtoy.

Yet Half-Life 2 came out a whopping 17 years ago, and despite carrying on the trend of being one of the best games ever created, a trilogy has been a long way off.

But it appears that Valve's underground mechanics might have been cooking up a lot more than just Deadlock, which now appears to be just the appetiser for the double-header main course: two new Half-Life games.

Two new Half-Life games are reportedly in development

Valve's development team have been in the lab for quite some time, coming off the back of Counter-Strike 2 and a new overhaul to DotA 2 to the upcoming and promising Deadlock.

But new reports claim that two new Half-Life titles are in the works, including the extremely elusive Half-Life 3.

"Half-Life 3 is real," according to insider "Game Follower" who originally leaked Deadlock - and is also ironically named after Valve's Gabe Newall - after he produced a report on YouTube detailing the trilogy.

These leaks claim that HL3 will be a Virtual Reality game though, coming in as a follow-on from Alyx named HLX, leaving some fans to question where the PC port is.

Interestingly, more leaks have now begun to surface, which claim that there are multiple Half-Life games in the works, one of which is intended to be for PC.

YouTube digital journalist Tyler McVicker has claimed that two games are in development at Valve, one being the aforementioned HLX, although he contradicts past leaks and claims this will be a flatscreen game.

McVicker did say another VR game is in development and set to release alongside Valve's debut headset, the Deckard.

With both journalists and leakers having such reputations and records, it's hard to know who might be the most accurate, but having a VR and PC game might be Valve's best.

Taking to Reddit, one popular comment read, "[It] would be the only way to satisfy everyone I guess."

"Having 2 separate games would allow Valve to give everyone a full-fledged single-player campaign with the option of linking between the two games."

Any new Half-Life project would surely be a huge success, but as the hairs on my chin begin to become frosted with grey tips, I would very much like to relive my baby-face teen years with a new PC game.

Previous rumblings of Half-Life 3 have always ended in similar reports of "Source 2 isn't powerful enough," leaving devs torn between finishing the engine, using alternatives like Unreal or Unity, or simply making new games.
