Oh-oh, here they come. Watch out, boy, they’ll chew you up…
Just hours after the Splitgate 2 playtest has gone live, the sweats and ‘tryhards’ have come to chew you up and spit-gate you out.
Already, clips have begun to go viral of Splitgate 2 players dominating lobbies by giving 110% effort, and other gamers are already getting put off playing the fun title at the expense of running into these types of players.
Splitgate 2 is being overrun by ‘Tryhards’
This is a debate as old as time itself, but sweaty players can ruin games, and Splitgate is already on the receiving end of some flak regarding the demons that are jumping through portal after portal.
Taking to Twitter, one clip has surfaced after Splitgate professional "2ChenZo" single-handedly wiped his opponents off the map, taking advantage of a rich knowledge of the portals before letting loose of bullets and rockets.
But, after being circulated by Jake Lucky, other players have argued that the "tryhards" are the reason why Splitgate 2 might die as quickly as it spawned in.
"This is literally the reason online PvP games die," one fan said on Twitter. "[The] game hasn't even released yet & he's already tryharding to his fullest potential."
"He’s actively on stream, optimising the fun out of it all for everyone else lucky enough to get access who just wanted to play something new," they added.
Others agreed, adding, "This looks SO BAD. I'm actually kind of glad I stopped playing the first one if this is representative of the type of gameplay I was going to see later on."
Of course, there are two sides to this coin.
Players need to be good for the game to excel and advance, and streaming relies on expertise.
"When and why did we start shaming people for being good at stuff," another gamer argued back.
Already, it looks like Splitgate 2 is very divisive, with a clear skill differential that might prove tricky for new players to meander and enjoy.
