Batter up, as it looks like two worlds are going to collide in a big way. While the Call of Duty series has been accused of being Fortnitified thanks to its growing number of pop culture crossovers, even we've got to admit the next big collaboration could be a doozy.

Call of Duty has long since left the trenches of World War II behind, with Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch joining Infinity Ward as regular developers. Each brings their own thing to the table, with Treyarch and the Black Ops series known for their fan-favourite Zombies mode.

Call of Duty tipped for The Walking Dead crossover

2023's Modern Warfare 3 marks a milestone thanks to Treyarch's work on Zombies. With Treyarch back in the driving seat for Call of Duty 2024, it's no surprise there's an increased focus on Zombies. The developer is ready to take a shotgun to the competition, but before that, we could be getting a Call of Duty x The Walking Dead crossover.

As shared by regular CoD leaker and dataminer ModenasHD, references to fan-favourites Rick Grimes and Michonne have been found in the Modern Warfare 3 code. There's no exact release date, although it's seemingly tied into the live-action The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live TV series.

The Ones Who Live sees Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprise their roles as Rick and Michonne from AMC's main The Walking Dead series - giving us a long-awaited sequel. Considering the seventh entry in The Walking Dead universe is due to debut on February 25, 2024, that could be the magic date to mark in your CoD diaries.

Call of Duty x The Walking Dead makes perfect sense

If we're opening the door to this kind of crossover, could we see the CoDverse embrace Resident Evil? After all, it's good enough for Dead by Daylight and Rainbow Six. Beyond that, what about a collab with The Last of Us to celebrate its (eventual) Season 2 release?

Call of Duty x The Walking Dead would presumably launch long before Treyarch's game (presumably) drops around November. Still, blowing Walkers to pieces could bridge the gap between games and remind us why we're pumped for Treyarch's hopeful return to form.

Of course, another crossover is sure to be panned as just another reason to sell Rick and Michonne Operators. Similar to how some of you hated the introduction of The Boys skins to the shop, it'll take more than just some cash-grab Operators to convince you this one is worth it. Still, let's remember how The Walking Dead was once the biggest show around.
