There's a big change on the horizon as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) juggernauts Team Liquid has just signed Michael "Grim" Wince. Grim will replace the recently departed  Nick “nitr0” Cannella, taking Team Liquid back up into a strong position.

When Team Liquid announced the news on Twitter, the official account confirmed Grim will be making his debut at this week's DreamHack Summer. It means Grim's first time on Team Liquid will put him against his former team (Triumph) in DreamHack Group A. Following this, Liquid is set to put its CS:GO skills to the test against fellow giants like Cloud9 at ESL One Cologne.

Grim's welcome announcement

Although Grim was a huge part of Team Triumph and secured some impressive qualifications, Team Liquid is a whole different League and will be the young player's first professional signing. As Grim prepares to join Keith “NAF” Markovic, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, Jake “Stewie2k” Yip, and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, here's hoping Team Liquid can put its recent loss behind it.

In a blog post, Team Liquid explained, "We're very happy to introduce you to Grim - one of the most talented riflers in North America". The post continued, "While he does have some big shoes to fill, he has shown us nothing but hunger and determination to help elevate us back to the #1 spot in the world".

Liquid's North American squad has been a staple of the esports world over the past few years and famously scooped a victory at the Intel Grand Slam in Season 2 There were questions about when/if things would be shaken up a bit, which were fast-tracked when nitr0 stepped down from active duty.

Interestingly, Grim joining Team Liquid is the first change since Jake “Stewie2K” Yip wad added in late 2018.

It seems that Grim's appointment isn't the only surprise Team Liquid has hiding up its sleeves. In a separate tweet, the team promised, "We’ve got more than one big CSGO announcement coming your way this week, stay tuned".

What's going on behind the scenes is currently a mystery, but another twist on top of Grim's imminent arrival could be huge for the future of Team Liquid.
