Before becoming the streaming sensation as we know him, Jaryd "Summit1g" Lazar was a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional, and while he might not have reached many highs in his competitive career, he is etched into CS:GO esports folklore.

Not for the reasons that he may hope, as Summit1g has an unfortunate move named after him. For those who don't know, dying as a result of your own Molotov is better known as the "1g". The in-game self-molly death is a nod to the ex-professional, who died to his own utility in the most hilarious fashion.

Believing that he'd clutched a 1v1 to win the game, back when he was competing for Splyce in 2016, Summit1g celebrated on stage as he walked to defuse the bomb, not checking the floor to find that the flames of his own Molotov has engulfed his CT, losing the round, and sparking a comeback for CounterLogic Gaming who ultimately survived four match points to beat Summit1g's flaming corpse.

Na'Vi's Perfecto Performs Unfortunate '1g' Death At PGL Antwerp Grand Finals

As Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan jostled in the PGL Antwerp Grand Finals, with $500,000 on the line, Na'Vi's Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy was faced in a 1v3 situation and needed to do a little bit of jiggery-pokery to pick off any advancing FaZe players.

Despite missing the first snipe onto FaZe's Helvijs "broky" Saukants, Perfecto manoeuvred around a box to fire off some deadly headshots, but only to his own detriment, as the Molotov he threw earlier continued to torch his own toes, legs, and ultimately, his body.

If Perfecto thought nobody would see this, he largely underestimated the pull of PGL, as the Grand Final became the second-most-watched CS:GO game in history, with over 2,000,000 pairs of eyes watching. Nowhere to hide for Perfecto.

CS:GO Major Casters Roast Summit1g After Self-Molly Death

Having watched Perfecto crash and burn in his own grenade, the casters had immediate flashbacks of Summit1g's infamous clip, and popular commentator Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill said, "Summit would be proud".

The content creator, who was co-streaming the Grand Finals in front of his community, did see the funny side, after being spammed with "sumMolly" in his own chat. "You gotta respect the effort there," Summit1g said. "That’s funny. We’re proud of our boy. He went out like a champ, honestly."

Summit1g is a good sport when the 1g Molotov is mentioned, and he was actually rather pleased that even on the second-biggest stage in CS:GO history, people still die to their own utility.
