Steel Quits CS:GO Full Time To Play VALORANT

And another one gone, and another one gone, another one bites the dust.

Counter Strike is to esports as the pyramids are to Egypt: existing before you can even remember, but one of the wonders of the world, passing the testament of time. First released on November 9, 2000, Counter Strike has ascended into the highest calibre of esports, and has stayed there for nearly two decades.

However, the bricks have started to crumble, and a new shiny Sphinx is being built, attracting the veterans as well as fresh and exciting prospects. VALORANT is chipping away at CS:GO as it is now, as more players quit Valve's rustic first-person shooter, for the new glimmering and mythical VALORANT

This time, it is Joshua "steel" Nissan, a former member of Team Dignitas, iBUYPOWER, Torqued, Ghost Gaming and more. The 30-year-old with over $100,000 in winnings was banned from competing in CS:GO or any Valve associated events, due to being involved in a match-fixing scandal. Although the ban was permanent, ESL and DreamHack lifted the ban which was first instigated in 2015, allowing him to compete in tournaments.

Most recently, steel competed in ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online - North America, where they finished third, losing out to Team Liquid, and just three days later has parted ways with his team, Chaos Esports Club, to pursue VALORANT.

It's expected that Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado will come in for Chaos as steel's replacement, after recently leaving Ze Pug Godz. The former NRG and eUnited rifler is heavily rumoured to be the new addition to the Chaos roster.

As for steel, his destination is yet to be confirmed. Chaos announced that he will become a streamer, however, it is likely that he endeavour a professional career. Organisations such as Dignitas, of whom he represented in CS:GO, have yet to find a fifth player, leaving the door open for steel. Likewise, 100Thieves have yet to complete their roster, giving steel a few options should teams want to pick him up.
