Specialist Abilities Set To Be In Black Ops Cold War

Modern Warfare saw the full return of boots-on-the-ground Call of Duty to many fans' pleasure. With an arguably much better engine than Sledgehammer Gaming's World War Two, Infinity Ward put a stop to the jet packs and had players feet firmly on the ground. Unless you've got a Scuf controller and bounce around the map like something from the Looney Tunes.

It looks like Treyarch will follow suit with Black Ops Cold War, as the futuristic era of Call of Duty has come to a close and we dive back into the most historical wars that have ripped through the world.

However, Black Ops 3 and 4 will not be forgotten in a hurry, and a new element to Black Ops Cold War will see the return of a major feature of its predecessors, according to dataminers.

Prominent leaker, Tom Henderson, has claimed: "A lot of the specialist weapons from BO 3/4 will be returning but as scorestreaks this year. The Flamethrower, Hand Cannon, Bow, Grenade Launcher and Death Machine are currently on the list. There's currently 18 streaks in #BlackOpsColdWar".

This does add scepticism on how an explosive tip bow rife from the hands of a robot-like Katniss Everdeen would feature in the Cold War, as Treyarch look set to blend future with history, should this feature. It could come as a rustic bow though, allowing players to weave through Vietnam like Robin Hood.

Specialist abilities such as Glitch and Heatwave will likely be omitted, however, in both Black Ops 3 and 4, specialists were added throughout the year, meaning this could be the first-ever Call of Duty to have killstreaks added throughout the year, which would really shake up the meta.

It's worth noting that some killstreaks from Modern Warfare can be found in Warzone too, hinting at these specialists abilities appearing in the battle royale. Now a squad wipe with the bow really would be something to behold.
