Though RuneScape has been the perfect haven for standing still levelling your fishing skills and spam "buying gf" in the chat for many years, it hasn't exactly aged the best in the visual department.

Though many would argue that the chippy art style and rendering of RuneScape is part of what makes its charm so alluring, others aren't so sure that the visuals of the games are up to snuff. Of course, the game got a huge remake, and players migrated as such - but it simply isn't the same experience, and it has led a lot of players back to Old School RuneScape to get their fix.

But now, one player has remade the classic RuneScape that we know and love in Unreal Engine 5, and it's absolutely glorious to behold.

RuneScape Fan Remakes The Game In Unreal Engine 5

One long-term RuneScape fan, Zant on YouTube, has developed a remarkable recreation of The Legend's Guild from the game, and it's genuinely a work of art.

Zant has shared a video of the recreation in all of its shimmering glory, showing off forest locales with bushes that sway in the breeze and cast shadows over its paths, the Guild itself with its banners blustering in the wind, and the luscious greens and blues of the area.

It's a remarkable feat of development, especially when we know the Guild for its pixel-crushed aesthetic, and it stands as one of the best high-definition recreations we've seen yet.

UE 5 RuneScape Creator Talks Developing Assets

The video's creator mentions taking up the project in the remake's ArtStation post; "Adapting RS to a realistic style was a neat little challenge, especially since I set out to also include a sizeable portion of the surrounding scenery ratchet than just the guild," they say. "I had to carefully thread the line between expanding the areas enough to have a realistic composition, while also maintaining the area's identity."

Zant also developed some assets fresh for the remake - "I created the assets for the buildings, hedges, fountain, flags/ standards, and fences. Using vertex building with a custom master material in Unreal Engine 5, I was able to paint dirt and other imperfections directly onto the buildings in the scene with a secondary texture set."

With fresh textures in too, the remake of the Guild from RuneScape is remarkable, and a testament not only to the possibilities of UE5, but also the fans that use it. Do the whole game next. Not like we're demanding or anything.
