Maxi's long-running The Sims series has long been the uncontested champion of the life simulator genre. Even though it keeps pumping out Stuff Packs and Expansions, players are willing to hear about a new competitor. Luckily for them, that's just what they've been promised.

Life By You hopes to offer players a new means of getting involved in the genre while simultaneously giving them the chance to build a life and inhabit it as a player with their shoes on the ground. It's an exciting notion - but as it made big promises, we've reached an impasse, and players are massively disappointed.

Life By You is delayed indefinitely, just after revealing Early Access

A brand-new update on the Paradox forum has revealed that even though players have only just found out about Life By You's Early Access period, the game's team has retracted the release date. Worst still, Paradox Interactive has refused to commit to a new one.

"After much consideration, we regret to announce that we have decided to retract Life by You’s Early Access release date, previously set for June 4th," the team at Paradox says. "This was not an easy decision, especially since we understand the anticipation and excitement that many players have for the game."

Explaining the decision, Paradox continues, "However, we believe that additional development time is needed. While we would have preferred to commit to a new release window, we believe it is more prudent to hold off while we plan ahead, rather than committing to a new date that we cannot be certain to meet."

It's definitely not news that fans wanted to hear, with them taking to X to express just how frustrated they are. One disgruntled gamer raged, "Seriously again? I don’t mean to be rude but this is the 3rd time you delay your early access. This is not good at all. I’m losing my interest and hopes for this game."

Another grumbled, "I feel disrespected as a player. We've dealt many delays, but announcing another delay just two weeks before release is gross," and a third concluded, "Guys what is happening? First the broken release of Cities, then delays of Prison Architect 2 and now Life by You?

Through the eyes of many, the industry has been in need of a game like Life By You for a while, so their need to wait even longer is made all the more frustrating. Good things come to those who wait, but blimey, we've really been waiting.
