FromSoftware's Elden Ring is, and we hope they don't mind us saying this, full of dubious fellows. This has helped the developer's style to permeate and become so iconic - weird dogs with curved blades, pot men with bureaucratic dialects, and even sentient giant cannonballs. We can't fault Elden Ring's creativity for a moment.

The goblin-adjacent weirdos are what keeps the community coming back and what helps to keep places like The Lands Between feeling alive. As the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC peeks around the corner, fans are looking to the strange little guys that await us in the near future. And it looks like they've crowned a new favourite.

Shadow of the Erdtree's Worm Guy is everyone's favourite so far

The Elden Ring subreddit is, naturally, in the middle of a hype-laden frenzy, getting ready to take on the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. As they pick apart the trailer for all of the details it holds, they're theorising about the weapons, armour, and skills that await them. But some are transfixed by something else entirely.

The subreddit has become awash with fan art for the unnamed long glowing monster, seemingly stemming from the ground and almost flapping in the wind. The worm-like beast hums blue, and fans have wasted no time in sharing their excitement to meet the innocent-looking tube of jelly.

Tarnished have been showing their love for 'Worm Guy,' and it looks like this excitement might even impede their usefulness in battle. When someone said, "I don't get it, why is everyone posting a weird glowing worm in this sub?" another cheered, "How dare you diss our new sub mascot like that!"

Fans aren't sure they can kill Worm Guy

Accompanied by some brilliant fan art, someone has asked if players are going to be willing to chop down the strange tube man - and some are revealing it might be a bit too much to ask of them to bring down the worm.

"Only reason I would fight the spirit noodle is if the boss version dropped a spirit ash summon that calls a couple of them into battle," reads one comment. "I don't even care if they're next to useless, just give me the spirit noodle summons Miyazaki, I beg you!!"

Another added, "I would fight for the right to pet that adorable thing," while a third simply said, "Fren no fight." There are others in the comments willing to chop Worm Guy down for runes, and it might actually be the right answer to kill all.

We've been burned before, and FromSoftware games seem to enjoy punishing you for trusting anything. Maybe the floppy glowstick is more dangerous than we had imagined. You can't take any chances in The Land of Shadow.
