If you've got both a PS VR2 and a PC then you're in for a treat, as PlayStation has announced a new adapter that'll let you use the device on Steam for any eligible titles you may own.

This increases the eligible library of the device significantly, giving you access to 'thousands' of titles, including heavy hitters like Valve's own Half-Life Alyx.

Sony announces new PS VR 2 adapter

Come August 7, 2024, you'll finally be able to purchase a dedicated adapter for the PlayStation VR2, allowing you to use the headset on PC.

Previously the device was only compatible with the PlayStation 5, and it didn't offer any backwards compatibility with previous-generation PlayStation VR titles, leaving you with a rather limited library of titles to play.

This changes significantly now with the new adapter - providing you have a PC, of course - as it'll let you access any of the compatible SteamVR titles on Valve's digital storefront.

The adapter itself will set you back $59.99/£49.99, which really isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. Think of it as the price of a game, only it opens up the opportunity for countless more!

'Thousands' of games will be available

At the forefront of titles now available when using the new adapter are games like Half-Life Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder, but there are so many other titles beyond this that you'll be able to experience for the first time.

Steam has a dedicated page for all of the games available through SteamVR, including Asseto Corsa if you're into your sim racing, or even Pavlov VR if you're up for another shooter.

You will need to make sure that your PC has at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (or equivalent) in order to use the device, but Sony themselves recommend an RTX 3060/RX 6600XT and beyond for optimal performance.
