Players Disable Halo Infinite Crossplay To Avoid Cheaters
Halo Infinite's multiplayer beta is now in full swing, and now that we're beyond the novelty of the game having surprise-released early, players are starting to get serious about engaging with the free-to-play multiplayer. And while many fans are having a great time with it and asserting that it's genuinely a great competitor to the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042, there's already a problem - cheaters.
The first-person shooter has fallen prey to serious hacking problems over the last few years, with Warzone truly taking the brunt - but players have had enough. And some Halo Infinite players are already taking action to keep away from them.
Halo Infinite Crossplay: What's Going On?
Oh no. They've got Halo.
Cheaters are already tightening their icy grip around Halo Infinite's multiplayer, and it hasn't taken long for them to be so prevalent in games that players are needing to be proactive in order to avoid them.
Fans have reported that they're now hoping to switch off their crossplay in the game's settings in order to curb the huge sum of cheaters. But sadly, it's not quite that simple.
In Halo Infinite, players are given the option to box out players using different means of control in order to assure competitive fairness, but there's no option to disable crossplay with users on PC.
Regardless of its effectiveness, though, players are trying it anyway - but it's sad that they even have to try it in the first place. We'd hoped that Infinite would be able to fend off cheaters for a little longer, but it looks as though the AAA title is already succumbing to their grip.
Players React To Halo Infinite Cheaters
You won't have to look far to see players already bothered by cheaters - the problem is already rife, and Halo fans are already sharing their horror stories online.
Even streamer Dr Disrespect has chimed in, suggesting that cheating in Halo Infinite is a "scary thing to think about". He's got a point - the multiplayer portion of the game has gone down a treat so far, and a cheating problem puts it at serious risk of being squandered.
The Infinite campaign is out on December 8, but let's be honest, it's multiplayer that will give the game the legs to last the test of time. Fingers crossed that 343 Industries can put a cap on it - because cheating could become a mainstay for the game. And we saw how that turned out with Warzone.
