That didnโ€™t take long! Just like that, the inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major has been announced and is set to make history in Copenhagen. Tournament organiser PGL has been tasked to host the event starting on March 17-31, 2024 at the Royal Arena.

PGL has previously hosted Majors such as the PGL Major Stockholm in 2021, the most-watched CS:GO tournament of all time. In a press release, PGL CEO Silviu Stroie shared his companyโ€™s ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 to break the game's all-time viewership records again.

With a prize pool of $1,250,000 (~1,015,000 ยฃ), the prize pool remains humbly within previous ranges.

The news just hit days after the official Counter-Strike Twitter account had announced that the Paris Major hosted by BLAST would be the last of its kind played on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

With this news, Valve and PGL have given fans a concrete date to look forward to as 10-month-long Major draught sets in and Counter-Strike 2 is made competitively ready.

Rumours of Counter-Strike 2 had been circulating for a long time until Valve finally announced the new version on March 22nd. So far, only a selected few have access to the game, though the floodgates are expected to open soon.

According to the press release, tickets for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 will be made available soon.
