As the Paris Legion brand prepares to retire, they've set a record nobody ever wants to achieve.

It's a statistic that nobody ever wants to be the holder of, but just as Paris Legion is set to retire their branding in favour of a Las Vegas-based team, they've become the worst organisation in the history of the CDL.

Paris Legion have often been marooned to the bottom of the standings in the Call of Duty League, in the past two years especially. Despite cooking up a similar recipe that has born the fruit of labour for other organisations - dipping into the Challengers scene for hungry rookies - in the latter half of the season, the French fancies appeared to make sour jam, rather than sweet strawberries.

Now, after suffering a pair of defeats in the final week of the online Vanguard season, Paris Legion have earned the crown of the worst CDL team of all time.

Paris Legion Set Longest Loss Streak In CDL History

Having gone through the entirety of Stage 3 without getting a win (five losses in qualifying and a single-elimination defeat at the Toronto Major), things have continued to spiral for Paris Legion. After equalling the record for the longest loss streak (10 games without a win) on July 3 following their defeat to Los Angeles Thieves, a further two dumping against Florida Mutineers and Minnesota ROKKR respectively etched Paris Legion into the history books.

A 12-match loss streak leaves Paris Legion rock-bottom of the CDL standings and overtaking the previously-joint record-holders in ROKKR and Seattle Surge for the unwanted accolade.

The lengthy streak isn't their first of this season either. Having ended the year with a 2-22 record, Paris only managed two wins in their opening ten fixtures too, leaving them as the worst team in CDL history.

What's Next For Paris Legion?

The World Championships is off the cards for Paris Legion, even if they pull off the one-in-a-million run to win the New York Major. They will face a lower-bracket fixture on the main stage in the Big Apple versus either Atlanta FaZe or LA Thieves, although it's doubtful that any results will come their way.

A single loss at the New York Major will see Paris Legion retire as a brand, amid the move to Las Vegas. Should the loss streak extend to 13 games, it could mount pressure on the Vegas brand to hit the ground running and rid themselves of the Paris skeletons.

For Legion though, it is well documented that their ownership group has grown frustrated at the CDL's support and usage of the extensive buy-in fees, resulting in minimalistic contracts for players operating on their team - and their Eternal Overwatch cousins.

Maybe a change of scenery will help source funding and sponsors, having a domino effect on how the organisation operates.
