While FromSoftware has become known for hack 'n' slash adventures like BloodborneDemon's Souls, and now Elden Ring, let's not forget it's also made a name for itself with Armored Core. It's been nearly a decade since the rusted corpse of Armored Core: Verdict Day limped to the scrapyard, so we think we're long overdue a return.

Much like how Konami has let legacy IPs like Silent HillCastlevania, and Metal Gear rot, FromSoftware feels like it has left Armored Core behind to focus on the rest of its Souls-likes. Although it's a million miles away from the gothic locales we're used to FromSoft crafting more recently, it's got that signature difficulty that's led to many a broken controller.

Is Armored Core 6 On The Way?

Over on Reddit, fans pointed out how FromSoftware is looking for a Character Designer "who can make designs based on an understanding of the concept of the game and the role of characters and mecha in the game." Well, that doesn't sound much like Elden Ring 2 to us.

It's true that mecha appears in plenty of anime and other IPs, but considering FromSoftware already has the dormant Armored Core, this is a little too convenient for us. Going against the idea, mecha mechanics aren't exclusive to FromSoftware and Armored Core. Following the release of the OG Armored Core in 1997, the developer worked on the mecha-esque and Xbox-exclusive Metal Wolf Chaos in 2004.

Still, there were plenty of questions about a potential Armored Core 6. Responding to the job listing, one redditor wrote, "At this point, it would be more of a shock if they DON'T come out with Armored Core." Another added, "This was pretty much known but I wonder if it’ll end up being something else. Like how Sekiro started out as a Tenchu game," while a third said, "Bloodborne 2 but in the Industrial Age where blood is used as fuel for the Mechs?! A man can dream."

Armored Core 6 Leaked Earlier This Year

All the way back in 2016, Hidetaka Miyazaki told Kotaku, "We are making a new Armored Core. We are still in the early stages of development." All these years later, we're almost no closer to finding out what comes next. Back in January, there was a massive leak that supposedly revealed Armored Core 6

Posting on ResetEra, Red Liquorice claimed to have finished a consumer survey about "a new Armoured Core game with description, screenshots and two 30 second-ish videos of gameplay — the first a boss fight and the second more in-world gameplay, a snow area." The screenshots started doing the rounds on social media, and with that, most assumed Armored Core 6 was legit. With the latest news, we're one step closer to the franchise's hopeful return.
