Treyarch is notorious for its Call of Duty zombies experience. After kicking things off with that two-up two-down design in Nacht der Untoten, the developer has multiplied the undead series year after year.

Revisiting its roots, Treyarch rumbled on with round-based gameplay with Die Maschine, before bringing out the most ambitious mode yet... Outbreak.

Taking zombies and thrusting them into an almost open-world map design, Treyarch captured the imagination of the fan base that yearned for a big project, and now, it seems like it's planning on making it a permanent fixture.

Is Outbreak In Call Of Duty 2024?

In the latest Treyarch job opportunities, the Zombies developer has been looking for a Senior Level Designer to join the Call of Duty team. Importantly, it's focusing on large-scale maps.

Within the description, Treyarch noted that the Designer will be a major shot-caller on a range of projects, including Outbreak. Given that the zombies title is over two years old now, it insinuates that Outbreak will have a future in the franchise and be part of Call of Duty 2024.

The job posting also offered insight into other Treyarch projects, including an influence in designing future Warzone maps.

Fans Excited About The Return Of Outbreak

Following the success of Outbreak in Cold War, eagle-eyed fans who spotted the mode being mentioned have now become quite excited.

"Outbreak confirmed, W. Hoping this time, it has its own dedicated zombies map rather than reusing a BR map, or at least is the BR map made into a zombies aesthetic," one fan said.

Other job listings also confirmed that Zombies will come with many levels and maps, presumably carrying on their never-ending list of round-based maps and digging further into the aether storyline.

With the developer having two years to get Call of Duty 2024 over the line, we can likely assume that Outbreak will be ready to go at launch, or at least within the first season.
