Netflix star makes surprise appearance in Hades 2 voice cast
The King of the roguelikes is back, and as we dive into the River Styx for another round (or 100) of Greek mythology, Hades 2 is looking to improve on the original. Supergiant Games has unsheathed its sword, and as Hades 2 enters early access, it's already looking like a winner.
While 2020's Hades followed Zagreus as he tried to escape the neverending loop of his father's doing, the sequel hones in on his sister, Melinoë. This plucky upstart is taking on Chronos, the Titan of Time, but don't worry, the Gods of Olympus are here to lend her a hand.

Click to enlargeAside from its unique art style, one of Hades' big wins was its eclectic voice cast that was led by Darren Korb as Zag and even included God of War's Ben Pendergast. After the first game became a certified hit, it looks like Supergiant is splashing the cast and has nabbed a well-known face for the sequel.
As noted by PCGamesN, Hades 2 has added Sex Education's Asa Butterfield to the cast as Icarus. Known for his role as Otis Milburn in Sex Education, Butterfield rose to fame with The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. He's also appeared in the likes of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and was one of the frontrunners to play Spider-Man in the MCU.
Alongside returnees like Logan Cunningham's titular Hades, the sequel has added Judy Alice Lee as Melinoë and secured the video game talents of Baldur's Gate 3's Amelia Tyler as Hecate. We'll be keeping our eyes (and ears) out for more familiar faces hiding in Hades 2, but safe to say, Butterfield's inclusion is an unexpected one.
What does Icarus do in Hades 2?
While we've all heard of Icarus' father and the Daedelus Hammer Artifact, his son can also come in handy. In terms of Icarus' role in Hades 2, his role is to help buff Melinoë's attack of defence. There are over 100 Boons in Hades 2, with Icarus' inventions helping Melinoë on her way. Here's what he has on offer:
- Destructive Coating - grants 40 armour and deals 4,000 damage to nearby enemies when all armour is lost
- Ingenious Strike - adds Prime 20 Magick and gives your Attack +10 Power when entering a location
- Supply Chain - receive +10 healing and three Pom Slices every time you clear five Encounters
Even though Icarus might not be the most powerful aide you meet along your journey, we'll be thinking of him in a whole new light next time we hear Butterfield's vocals. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got a Titan to topple.
