MW3 players left stunned as SMGs outperform ARs cross-map

Is it really an assault rifle world in Modern Warfare 3? Every year we feel like ARs are blessed, but maybe this year really is the era of the subs...

So far, the Modern Warfare 3 meta has dropped down to two guns, especially in Ranked with the gun bans, as the MCW and the Rival 9 have reigned supreme in their respective classes.

But the latter is now being used as a jack of all trades, as the Rival 9 is leaving jaws on the floor at its cross-map capabilities.

Call of Duty's most brutal straight-shooting professional player Brandon "Dashy" Otell has posted a recent clip of him trading out the MCW for a Rival 9, and the marksman has found that the fun absolute beams players at long-range.

The OpTic Texas star used the submachine gun on Skidrow, picking up some near-sighted kills as expected before ripping enemies off head glitches almost 40 feet away.

If that wasn't enough, the player even stood atop Skidrow's peak power position and proceeded to out-gun the MCW when aiming at players on the opposite side of the map, kicking up a handful of easy and instant kills.

Dashy is a multi-team CDL team of the year alumni with an AR in hand, but showing off how an SMG can do the same role has now left people wondering if the gun needs a heavy nerf.

Despite the MCW's dominance in the Call of Duty League, players are now making the switch to the Rival 9 instead, after seeing how broken it is.

"Rival is the best gun in the game. No debate. It's just the maps that are AR-heavy," said one fan.

Another added, "I started using it [because] I was fed up too. S**t is so broken. [Especially] on [controller]."

"I have people holding AR angles with a sub in scrims. But I’m keen for another MCW nerf," added Thomas "Scrappy" Ernst, pointing out that the assault rifle recently got nerfed while it gets outperformed in its own role by subs.

There still remains some discrepancy as to whether the Rival 9 is even the best SMG, given that the WSP Swarm is a juggernaut up close, but seeing how the Rival continues to be accurate over such margins, you might start seeing much more of it in weeks to come.
