Blink and you'll miss it. The G3T HIGH limited-time game mode, Call of Duty's psychedelic answer to Only Up!, grew to be quite a highly-anticipated diversion from the usual shoot-and-respawn gameplayer, after it was leaked to arrive in the ongoing 4/20 celebrations.

The game mode was set to launch as an obstacle course where players will use parkour skills, sliding, dolphin dives, and tac sprint to zoom through the map without falling, all while zapping targets like the good old Modern Warfare Spec Ops mission.

But after being left off any road maps, the mode launched with a silent drop, and has already been removed before players could see it.

As of April 13, G3T HIGH was silently dropped on Modern Warfare 3, with nothing but a warning from the developers.

The drop caught a lot of fans by surprise, as many thought this would become live on April 20 (4/20), and things only got weirder with Sledgehammer themselves taking to social media to put a clock on how long the mode would be available for (four hours, 20 mins).

Those not in the USA would have missed it unless the real gamer lifestyle was really peak, with it launching deep into the early morning UK time while the country was asleep.

As you can imagine, the bizarre release of this highly-anticipated mode has only riled fans who didn't get the chance to log on, or overslept through their Twitter notifications.

On a Reddit thread titled "Why the f**k was "get high" only available for a day", players have been venting their frustration.

"It was only available for 4 hours. I’m pissed I missed it," one fan said.

Another added, "[I know] they had it for 4 hours and 20 minutes, but I really wish it was for 4 days 20 hours or something, [because] I only got to play it once!"

Others hypothesised that the mode might actually get shelved forever now, much like game modes of old that never returned.

"So sad I wasn't able to play that day, I hope it returns someday, but prop hunt didn't come back so I honestly doubt it's going to happen," the original Redditor added.

Maybe the whole point of the game mode was to simply serve as some form of acid trip, like a lucid dream that players were supposed to experience and then debate over whether it was actually real...
