MW2's Season 3 Reloaded patch introduced a new lethal to the game in the form of the Throwing Star. Compared to the Throwing Knife, the throwable is faster, has a longer range, and a higher stock for players to make use of.

Unfortunately, the community isn't overly impressed with the Throwing Star and believes the 'garbage' lethal needs a buff.

As it doesn't one-shot an opponent to the body and only inflicts a wounding effect, a lot of players are confused about why they would use it over the Throwing Knife.

MW2's 'garbage' Throwing Star needs a buff

Taking to the ModernWarfareII subreddit, user Stiletto6112515 posted a thread discussing the description of the Throwing Star, which led to a wider debate about how effective the new lethal really is.

For one user, they "really hope the throwing star gets a buff... It is incredibly fun to use mechanically but useless and aggravating in practice."

Another player claimed they're 'garbage' because of how fast everyone moves in MW2, so "bullets are better and so is a quick draw sidearm."

One fan even argued, "It felt like a massive downgrade going from the knives to the stars when I unlocked them." Given this lethal is brand-new and the challenge to unlock them is incredibly difficult, it's clear the community feels like the effort needed to gain access to Throwing Stars is not worth it at the moment.

How can the MW2 devs buff the Throwing Stars?

In the hopes of bringing the Throwing Stars into the meta in MW2, a user suggested a way of buffing the lethal to make them stronger.

The idea involves making "it so you hold down the trigger to keep on firing a fast rate of stars... instead of it being semi-auto." This would allow you to surprise opponents and make the Throwing Stars more viable at close quarters.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see whether the devs decide to give the Throwing Stars a little more power in a future patch. Although the lethal is currently extremely fun to use, it seems they're not effective enough to replace the Throwing Knife or Grenade in most players' loadouts.
