MW2 players call for better weapon stats

Modern Warfare 2 players have called for better weapon stats instead of the vague 'grey bars' that provide very little information.

Modern Warfare 2's Gunsmith is where players go to create their loadouts and experiment with all the attachments on offer.

To gauge the strengths and weaknesses of a weapon, a set of bars show a gun's fire rate, damage, stability, and various other stats, but none of them are presented with a numerical value.

As you would expect, this makes it extremely difficult to know the exact benefits of every attachment. As a result, players are calling on the devs to improve MW2 weapon stats and get rid of the vague 'grey bars.'

MW2 want better gun stats instead of vague 'grey bars'

Can we have the fire rate actually show the gun’s rounds per minute? A grey bar means fuck all

Taking to the ModernWarfareII subreddit, user dtb301 sparked a heated discussion in the MW2 community after posting a picture of the current Gunsmith stat menu that only shows a set of 'grey bars.'

As you would expect, this pushed a lot of players to share their frustrations, with one claiming, "IW thinks numbers are too fancy... No need to know anything, just guess what each guns does."

Another argued, "Bungie's weapon specs are SO much better," clearly wanting the devs to take inspiration from Destiny. However, some users just want to go back to the past, arguing, "Cold War had the best stats! Wish we could have that back."

Either way, it's obvious the community isn't satisfied with the basic grey bar system that makes it impossible to know the exact stats of each weapon. Currently, the majority of players rely on outside sources to dateline the stats for every single gun.

Will the MW2 devs improve the Gunsmith stats?

While it's possible the MW2 stats are improved in a future update, it seems unlikely because it's not a particularly exciting change for the majority of the player base.

Although it would be extremely useful, the devs are more focused on releasing new features like weapons, maps, and modes rather than quality of life changes. However, there's a chance a revamped Gunsmith could at some point in the future, we'll just have to wait and see.
