Modern Warfare 2's core gameplay may be about the weapons, maps, and progression, but there's no denying that cosmetics are a huge part of the experience for some players.
The Call of Duty devs are constantly releasing new bundles in a variety of themes, giving the community the chance to customise their appearance.
BlackCell is a premium offering in Warzone 2 & MW2 that offers exclusive cosmetics and rewards for a flat price instead of through CoD points.
While this extension of the typical Battle Pass is appreciated by some, others are tired of the 'greedy' BlackCell adverts that pop up anytime they open the game.

Please stop shoving blackcell popups in my face everytime i boot up the game.

Taking to the ModernWarfareII subreddit, user DestroyMetalUsers decided to make a thread calling out the 'obnoxious' BlackCell pop-ups that appear anytime you hop into MW2 or WZ2.
For them, it's not a good experience having to see a BlackCell ad anytime they want to play and it doesn't make them want to purchase the offering.
One user in the thread agrees, arguing that "Activision has been getting too greedy" and they need to stop focusing on skins and fix all the frustrating 'bugs.'
Another claims all the "black-gold skins are hideous" anyway, so Activision needs to do a better job with the BlackCell rewards overall.
How much does BlackCell cost in MW2 & Warzone 2?
The BlackCell premier Battle Pass upgrade costs $29.99 in Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 and includes a range of exclusive cosmetics.
As nearly all of the rewards have a black and gold design, it'll be interesting to see if they take a different direction in the future. Remember, this isn't the first time BlackCell has caught the wrath of angry players, with the skins previously being slammed as 'trash' and a cheap cash grab.
Either way, the ads are clearly frustrating players, but the devs are unlikely to disable them anytime soon. Given how many players have purchased BlackCell so far, Activision is looking pretty smug right now.
