We recently reported that Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson was suing MrBeast Burger for failing to meet his high standards and for trapping him in a deal he couldn't escape. "That's strange," we thought, "Burgers can’t afford lawyers."
Jokes aside, MrBeast has made his feelings about his ghost kitchen escapades pretty clear, suggesting that they're not meeting his expectations and that he'd be happier cutting them off. To be fair, a lawsuit will make those things pretty apparent. But now, MrBeast Burger is coming for MrBeast.
MrBeast Burger is suing MrBeast back
Well, that's a problem. Virtual Dining Concepts is the company behind MrBeast Burger and is now coming after Donaldson with a lawsuit worth $100 million. The company has alleged that MrBeast is a "social media celebrity who believes his fame," giving him the chance to break contracts using clout.
"He is mistaken," say MrBeast Burger's lawyers. VDC has claimed (via Forbes) that it didn't agree to new terms from MrBeast, and as a result, Donaldson turned to leaving disparaging comments on Twitter. It has called the tweets "baseless" and "unlawful," while dishing out some serious statements about it.
VDC has also poked fun at MrBeast in the filing, suggesting that it's rich that he'd decry its work, especially as his pride and joy Feastables receive plenty of one-star reviews on Amazon. Cheeky.
VDC is looking forward to holding MrBeast responsible
The Beast Burger saga rumbles on, but the writing was already on the wall. It wasn't long ago that MrBeast himself was deleting tweets where he called out MrBeast Burger and suggested he was going to pull the plug.
In a comment offered to Kotaku, lawyers backing VDC have called out Donaldson, saying, "VDC looks forward to holding Mr. Donaldson and BI accountable for their actions. In the meantime, it is business as usual for MrBeast Burger and VDC to the greatest extent possible.
"VDC looks forward to serving many more satisfied customers and continuing to help the restaurant industry." It's a big step for the company, and who knows what kind of legal sinkhole we're about to delve into? All over a burger.
