Coming in as the prodigal son to take the Call of Duty franchise to a new promised land, Modern Warfare 2 is quickly getting ants in people's pants, with players itching to get a glimpse of the multiplayer action and see how it fares against this year's whimsical Vanguard experience.

After snippets of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign were shared, we saw some weaponry and mechanics. CoD fans are now widely anticipating the first showcase of the multiplayer side of things.

But after over a month since the first announcement, there's a sense of disgruntlement in the community, and it looks like the wait isn't even nearly over.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Reveal Set For September

According to renowned leaker Tom Henderson, the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer reveal is set for early September, despite rumblings that it will come by the end of July.

Writing for a site called tryhard, Henderson claimed that the showcase will be scheduled within the first two weeks of September before the beta is released.

This would then coincide with the previous two years, with Black Ops Cold War multiplayer being revealed on September 9, 2020, and Vanguard's being shown on September 7, 2021.

What Can We Expect From The Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Reveal?

Unlike last year, it doesn't appear that we will have an Alpha run before the multiplayer reveal. Vanguard's Champion of the Hill game mode was rolled out before the actual reveal, leading players to get an early understanding of what guns will be available and how the movement feels.

So, the Beta will first confirm a range of leaks surrounding guns, killstreaks, operators, and maps, giving us the first-ever look at Modern Warfare 2's core experience, and subsequently that of Warzone 2.

The late beta and multiplayer reveal will mean that the developers will only have one month to iron out the creases before the October 28 release.

Here's to hoping that Modern Warfare 2 will be more prepared than Vanguard was.
