Console-exclusive bonuses aren't a new concept for the Call of Duty franchise. The history of the shooter series is peppered with timed exclusivity on DLC packs, and although it rubs a lot of players up the wrong way, it's not the end of the world. The latest Modern Warfare 2 leaks claim it's much the same in 2022.

It just depends on which major console bags the advertising rights for the game, and it tends to flip-flop between PlayStation and Xbox deciding which group of fans gets their exclusives. Remembering Xbox's purchase of Activision Blizzard is on its way through, many thought Xbox would get all of the rewards - but according to a new Modern Warfare 2 leak, that might not be the case.

Data miners have apparently discovered that there are some extra perks for PlayStation users if they want to get their hands on the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. According to Charlie Intel, PlayStation owners are in for another bumper CoD year.

Digging around in the files of Vanguard Season 3 Reloaded seems to have confirmed that the PlayStation will be getting the game's open beta "first on PS4 & PS5". This was revealed as a part of a list of details that have offered a peek into the different versions of the game that will be available, as well as a deluxe edition in everything but name.

What Are The Different Editions Of Modern Warfare 2?

There have been three Modern Warfare 2 editions revealed so far - the Standard Edition, the Cross-Gen Bundle and Vault Edition. The Standard Edition, naturally contains the game itself, along with early access to the open beta (which will be available first on PlayStation consoles), and more items to be revealed.

The Cross-Gen Bundle includes a version of the game for both console generations on its respective platform and the beta, while the Vault Edition comes packed with the beta access, a season of the game's battle pass and 50 tier skips, the Red Team Operator pack including Ghost, Soap, Price and Farah, the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault, 10 hours of double XP and 10 hours of double weapon XP, and the Ghost Legacy Pack, stuffed with 12 Operator Skins and 10 Weapon Blueprints.

If you want the most bang for your buck, the Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition is packed to the brim with goodies, but frankly, the game and its beta are more than enough. We'll admit we're surprised PlayStation is once again getting the jump on the competition, but with the Xbox deal snapping at Activision's heels, Modern Warfare 2 could be the last entry to do so. Get your preorders in, and you might even get to play Modern Warfare 2 early.
